Well, well, what do we have here? Most of the time, we would think of notebooks to be rather delicate devices that would need their fair share of protection, but just like the world of smartphones, there are some tough cookies out there as well, and if you are in the market for a rugged notebook, then surely the likes of Panasonic’s Toughbook range or those from Getac would have caught your attention in the past. This time around, it is Getac’s turn to present their spanking new B300 Ultra Rugged Notebook. Interestingly enough, Getac has positioned the Getac B300 to be the fastest and most secure as well as toughest notebook in its class when it comes to mission critical applications.
After all, this next generation B300 ultra-rugged notebook has the kind of toughness required that makes it perfect for the likes of military personnel, law enforcement and field technicians. Not only that, it will come backed by the industry’s best five-year, bumper-to-bumper warranty. Being the first ultra-rugged notebook in the market that will be powered by Intel’s 6th generation Skylake Core i7 processor, you can be sure that computer and GPU performance are increased while power consumption is reduced. Not only that, dual hot swappable batteries ensure up to 30 hours between charges and potentially infinite battery life.
Do take full advantage of the 13.3” touchscreen display, which is Getac’s brightest screen to date at 1400 nits, where it provides ample real estate for applications with minimal scrolling. There is also a one-touch feature that allows the screen to be viewed with night vision goggles without additional screen filters, while the full-sized keyboard will be backlit in red to avoid silhouetting, which an essential feature for officer safety and covert operations.
Other specifications include TPM 2.0 that monitors and protects system start-ups to ensure the device is tamper-free, with BitLocker protecting data at rest, in use and in transit. Connectivity options include a trio of USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA, LAN, two serial ports and mic input/audio output. The entire shebang is MIL-STD 810G- and IP65-certified that allows it to survive drops up to six feet, driving rainstorms, dust, sand and extreme temperatures, from -20°F to 140°F (operating temperature) and -40°F to 160°F (storage temperature). Looks like it can only be bested by the Blue Screen of Death and nothing else!
